Paper Abstract:      Members of software development teams typically fulfill a variety of roles, create artifacts of various types, communicate using a combination of communication technologies, and create, seek, and access explicit as well as tacit work-related knowledge. The complex development task requires sophisticated support tools that allow customization to satisfy specific team requirements, and enable extension to match evolving software and hardware technologies and applications. Accordingly, software development environments should be integrated, customizable, and extendible frameworks supporting development, communication, and team and knowledge management. This paper describes our exploration of a possible implementation of such an environment. We focus on the available features and overall architecture because the environment has only been completed recently and has not yet been used on a significant scale beyond our development team.
