Paper Abstract:
|
This short paper aims to discuss student-centered learning in the wake of generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
Students are using AI to supplant their ability to think critically and analyze. Increasingly, teachers and educators are
concerned about what the future of the classroom will look like in the midst of rapid technological change. There is a need
for innovative approaches that reaffirm the value of creativity, critical thinking, and student agency. In response, we offer
examples from our teaching experiences informed by our own pedagogical frameworks for continuing to center student
learning and experiential learning in the face of AI. Our approach reflects our respective disciplinary training in Information
Studies, Literature, Hip Hop Studies, and Critical Data Studies. |
