Paper Abstract:
|
In today's globalized world, where change is constant and unpredictable, organizations must strive to gain competitive
advantages to ensure survival. The digital transformation has significantly impacted how we live and work, demanding
paradigm shifts, cultural and strategic approaches, and focusing on work dynamics and environmental considerations. This
article examines Higher Technical Students' perceptions of Portugal in the context of digital transformation and Industry
4.0. Using a quantitative, descriptive research design, a questionnaire survey was conducted via Google Forms among
final-year students. The findings suggest that students in Management, Technology, Design, and Tourism are more inclined
towards technology than organizational culture and do not recognize its significance. However, they acknowledge the
importance of developing key competencies such as leadership, communication, decision-making, and analytical skills
through their courses. They also place high value on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The study emphasizes the
impact of the digital revolution on society and the necessity for individuals to embrace this change, understanding its
implications on personal and professional levels. At the organizational level, business models need to be adjusted to ensure
continuity and contribute to a sustainable future. The findings suggest that curriculum development for educators should
place equal emphasis on technical skills and soft skills. For policymakers, it's crucial to emphasize that education policies
should promote digital literacy and skill development within higher education. Policies that encourage collaboration
between industry and academia can help ensure that education meets market demands and supports a sustainable digital
economy. |
