Paper Abstract:
|
The market for data marketplaces is valued at roughly one billion USD in 2022, rapidly growing with a CAGR of 25% until 2030. Data marketplaces are a promising opportunity for data buyers and sellers to realize the potential of data. However, many data marketplaces struggle with commercialization. Although there is a growing body of empirical research on data marketplaces, the pressing question of factors contributing to the success or failure of data marketplace commercialization has not been addressed in detail. The study closes this gap by interviewing 16 experts. We identify 8 factors contributing to the success or failure of data marketplace commercialization. We discuss implications through mapping our findings with existing research and current perspectives. |
