Paper Abstract:
|
In the emerging theoretical field of crypto-assets, a constant problem arises in identifying the species of this genre.
The subject of this research, Christoffersen (1995), defines taxonomy as recognizing, naming, and ordering taxa in a system
of words consistent with any relationship between the taxonomic units the researcher has discovered in nature. In the digital
environment, increasingly interconnected by technological advancements, investors have various sources of information,
such as financial analysts, news media, financial institutions, and social networks, to support decision-making in
cryptocurrency investments. This article aims to develop a taxonomy for classifying cryptocurrencies through the
methodologies of Nickerson et al. (2013) and Kundisch et al. (2021). As the main result of this research, the new taxonomy
proposed for classifying cryptocurrencies consists of three layers, eleven dimensions, and forty characteristics. As the
universe of cryptocurrencies expands, we suggested further studies to add new iterations to this proposed taxonomy. |
