Paper Abstract:

In the field of localization techniques satellite based systems needs to be supplemented. One approach is to use the
commonly installed Wi-Fi base stations for position determination. Our project with the testbed Nuremberg is focused on
using fingerprinting algorithms. Therefore a map of reference points is necessary beside a sufficient amount of Wi-Fi
transmitters. Building up this map is expensive; Wi-Fi infrastructure and radio characteristics are changing constantly
This paper is about our monitoring of the Wi-Fi coverage and the evaluation of the data to identify the demand of
updating the database and the influences of changes on the localization. |
