Paper Abstract:      This study explored perceived faculty barriers to participation in distance education. The research investigated issues faculty has brought forth about social interaction and program quality in distance education programs. Over the last decade, there have been numerous studies, articles, and presentations about faculty attitudes toward distance education. Technology is creating new ways for teachers to teach. Analysis of current literature shows that faculty believes that considerable pedagogical change must occur in order to create effective distance education environments.
