Paper Abstract:      Recent global spread of new influenza viruses awaked us to the threat of infectious diseases. To control the risk management for disease outbreaks, it is important to survey spatiotemporal case incidents of disease. We have developed a web-based data presentation system to support risk management for the prevention of infectious diseases outbreaks. The system consists of a web server and back end database. The database contains weekly infectious disease incidents obtained by the Japanese infectious disease surveillance scheme from 2000 to present, which amounts to 300,000 cases. The system can present up to date information about Japanese infectious disease epidemics in a sophisticated manner by using Ajax and HTML5 techniques, for example animations and graphic charts visualizing regional and nationwide trend and spatiotemporal patterns of infectious diseases. Moreover, we have enhanced the system so that it can predict future epidemics. We believe the system is a useful tool for risk management of infectious disease outbreaks.
