Paper Abstract:      This paper reports on the ongoing second cycle of a design-based research process for designing, implementing, and refining a problem-based learning course on educational digital video (DV) use and production for the Media Education curriculum at the University of Lapland. The results of the first research cycle suggested that DV production can be used as a method to learn about the subject matter of the course. This specific pedagogical approach can be conceptualized as “video production as pedagogy”. However, the approach calls for more precise pedagogical modelling. Accordingly, the aims of the ongoing research cycle are to refine the course design and to design a novel pedagogical model that focuses on DV production as a learning method.
