Paper Abstract:      Elearning provides a greater choice in terms of place, pace and time at which to learn. Yet, eLearning is still a challenging issue, especially, regarding commitment. In this paper we describe the architecture and implementation of video attention detection system for eLearning that continuously verifies the presence and attention of a logged-in user. We assume that the user logged-in using strong authentication prior to the starting of the continuous verification process. While the implementation described in this paper uses a digital camera-based verification on a laptop computer, the architecture is generic enough to be implemented on different system setup such as mobile devices. The main thrust of our work is to detect whether the eLearner is following along the lecture by tracking his/her facial attribute. When he or she is detected distracted, the video will pause automatically and the system will issue a warning ticket. As soon as the system detects the user back in attention mode, the video player resumes from where it was paused. Additionally, we discuss the use of the system in different setup.
