Paper Abstract:      Large item bank is necessary and useful for learning activities and evaluations. However, it is costly and time consuming to construct new test items, especially in arithmetic word problems. Due to the complexity of combining the different arithmetic questions with the various and reasonable scenario, the test item modeling issue arises when automatically generating new test items of arithmetic word problem. Wikipedia is a successful mechanism for supporting collective intelligence with version control ability, and therefore is a suitable solution. In this paper, we adopt a wiki-based approach to constructing item bank of arithmetic word problems. By analyzing the arithmetic word problems, the test items can be represented with the stereotyped framework and set of attributes. Accordingly, the question structure and question scenario of test items is modeled by the proposed Arithmetic Word Problem Frame. The inheritance and instantiation properties of the frame model allow us further extends the original test items to increase the capacity of item bank. To evaluate the effectiveness of proposed system, we have developed a Wiki-based Item Bank management system for elementary school Arithmetic Word Problems. The evaluation results show that most of elementary school teachers satisfy with our proposed system.
