Paper Abstract:      There are few investigations about the kind of familiar, social, affective and labour relationships shown by video game players, or how assimilation occurs in the natural paths of children. Through research, the author demonstrates the similitude of video games with other means of social education based on audiovisual materials which communicate learning about the right and wrong aspects of social relationships. It also focuses on the powerful attraction of this new media for children, which makes them vulnerable to its contents and, frequently, addictive nature. At the same time, the author demonstrates the possibility of using some educational skills to reduce the “bad” consequences of violent and “wrong” relationship oriented video games on children and adolescents. This paper is the result of author’s research at the Psychology Department at Harvard University in 2006, and of the collaboration with Professor Ellen Langer for the theoretical framework of the study.
