Paper Abstract:      During several decades, the principal aim of the software engineers and developers was to optimize the effort and the time of the product maintenance. However, software quality usually results from all the decisions undertaken at the design level. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the quality as early as possible in a software life cycle: this is in the main purpose of this paper. Actually, many researchers assume that measures were quality indicators in the early steps of the design. However, applying only this criterion is insufficient to neither judge nor to improve a design quality. So, it should be combined to the use of the well-known design heuristics. So, we propose to take advantage from the unified process characteristics and powerful through the application of several heuristics in this process. Finally, in order to check the syntax of these heuristics’ specifications and to make their implementation easier, we express them in Z formal language
