Paper Abstract:      In this paper, we present a qualitative user study on Chinese rural people’s potential needs in mobile learning services. With the migrant movement from rural areas to cities or other rural areas many of the children that are studying at home won’t be able to get proper family support in their school learning. To improve their economic situation, farmers or migrant workers need practical knowledge of new things but they are reluctant to take systematic or predesigned courses. A flexible learning community based on family or village clan is proposed so that the rural people’s social network can be shared and act as the powerful learning resource. We also propose an integrated infrastructure for the mobile learning service.
