Paper Abstract:      Adaptive user interfaces try to simplify the complexity of human-computer interaction. But, how can the user personalize the interface without having to learn complex tools? In this work, we present a couple of tools for interface personalization in a web information system. The first one is a wizard that can be used by novice users and the second one is UIPET (User Interface Personalization Tool) that can be used by users who like to design the layout of the presentations in a more precise manner. One of the advantages of these two tools is that there is no need of additional software to make them work (like plugins or applets). These tools are part of an adaptive interface for a virtual art museum application. In this application the user can select the different elements he is interested in by transparently managing some aspects of the presentation.
