Paper Abstract:      The authors of this paper aim at developing theoretical conditions for the modelling of adult educator’s activities within the domain of lifelong learning. The paper summarizes findings from the SOCRATES Grundvig 1 project AduEdu - “Qualifications of Adult Educator in Knowledge Society”. The paper is based on the theoretical literature and the documents of European and national policies in area of Adult education and lifelong learning. We include observations from personal experience of the AduEdu partners from eight European countries. The roles and functions of adult educators are explored and a model for designing the system of adult educator activities is proposed. The novelty of this model is its description of the activity of adult educator on five levels: national, regional, institutional, interpersonal and individual.
