Paper Abstract:
|
When a firm needs to comply with the diverse information system requirements of its trading partners, switching cost
between interorganizational information systems (IOS) becomes an issue. Internet-based IOS promise seamless
integration with less switching cost due to the widespread standards they use. This paper hypothesizes that despite the
common myth Internet-based IOSs still incur switching costs to the extent that affect the system adoption decision of
decision-makers. We propose a model to examine the switching cost between IOSs based on their compatibility and
relation specificity. These two factors are separately viewed at the infrastructure, application and business process levels. |
