Paper Abstract:      At present mobile data services beyond simple messaging services (SMS/MMS, eMail) and the download of static content (e.g. ringtones, wallpapers) aren’t a prosperous business in Europe. In analogy to the wired internet the engagement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as independent service providers is indispensable to obtain the variety of services that will help to turn advanced mobile data services like location based services into an interesting technology for end users. SMEs represent the huge majority of enterprises and play an import role in economy and on the employment market. These circumstances constitute the motivation for the MODIFRAME project. MODIFRAME’s main aim is to develop a technical framework that combines existing components to enable SMEs to develop and operate mobile services without having great resources and specialized know-how.
