Paper Abstract:      This study aims to identify and define the dimensions of User Experience (UX) with interactive systems, and measure their frequency and importance in several UX stories. It presents a questionnaire-based survey on UX which involves 52 respondents divided into three groups of ages (18-34; 35-49; 50-65). The respondents were asked to describe in about 300 words each a positive and a negative UX with an interactive system of their choice, and explain why the UX was positive or negative. Three independent judges read 101 UX stories (51 positive, 50 negative), extracted the dimensions that were present in each of them, and evaluated on a scale of 0 to 3 the importance of the presence of each dimension. Main results show that 10 dimensions can capture the characteristics of UX with interactive systems. The functional and psychological dimensions are present in almost all UX stories (96.04% and 90.1%), followed by the cognitive (80.2%), contextual (79.21%), and informational dimensions (74.26%). So there are major differences between dimensions when one looks at the frequency of their presence in UX stories. There are also major differences between dimensions as for the importance of their presence in UX stories (e.g., 2.3 for functional vs. 0.2 for cultural on a scale of 0 to 3). However, there are no differences between positive and negative UX stories when one looks at the dimensions that are present in them. And finally there are no differences between the three groups of respondents as for the presence of dimensions in their UX stories.
