Paper Abstract:      Spatial orientation is the knowledge of were one is/stands and how he/she can move within the surrounding world, by understanding and utilizing, in an operational manner, the different places within the space, especially in correlation with the place he/she possesses. Although preschool aged children are able to understand fundamental spatial concepts with their body being the reference point in space, they seem to have difficulties with an external reference point and even more this external point at a different direction than the children themselves. The current paper discusses upon the design of innovative learning situations and interactive, ICT-based activities addressed to 4 - 5 year old children. The aim is to help them develop spatial orientation, focusing on the concepts “Front – Back”, “Left – Right”.
