Paper Abstract:      The aim of this paper is to review the progress of the development project for the social networking software platform to support technological innovation in the Florianopolis high-tech business park, located in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. The business park consists of a complex system oriented towards innovation and entrepreneurship, with more than 300 technology-based companies and over 10,000 professionals. Conceptual studies were conducted in the area of social networks, technological innovation and knowledge management to guide the development of the social networking platform, whose design is still in the initial stages. Using an evolutionary software development methodology, after the initial definition of the social network requirements comes the cycle of prototyping with the participation of key stakeholders from the business park. The social network aims to become a support platform for the transfer of knowledge for the development of innovative products and services for the small and medium sized companies located in the business park. The main challenges for the project that is now underway are the involvement of the main stakeholders in the process of the development of the social network and the definition of strategies for the effective use of the social networking platform by users at the high-tech business park.
