Paper Abstract:      The business world is rising pressure to perform with increasingly scarce resources. Companies are continually seeking ways to reduce costs and maximize profits. Project teams are forced to find new ways to use the resources at their disposal, including information technology. Social Media tools can help project teams to manage information in a practical way and create a culture of collaboration. The objective of this research was to describe the way the Social Media tools are being used by Mexican project managers in the different stages of project management and explore the possible relation between the use of these tools with the collaboration level presented in work teams. The research, with a quantitative approach and an exploratory scope, was applied to a group of 54 Mexican project managers. An online survey was used for the data collection. The results showed that only the 54% of the project managers are using Social Media in their work teams 26% of the time. However, the perception project managers have about a positive impact of these tools to facilitate collaboration is quite high (70%).
