Paper Abstract:      What is considered large is a moving target for modern multimedia files: while storing these files is accommodated by ever larger capacity of storage device, delivering them via the Internet is still outpacing available bandwidth. Recent advances in P2P protocols use a decentralized model of distributing large files that greatly alleviates the bandwidth demand on the multimedia source. However, such open delivery of multimedia files poses great challenges to security issues such as confidentiality, copyright and fair use. Our approach combines the benefits of a P2P-style shared distribution with a PKI-style authentication and encryption of the media. In this paper we describe our framework, the algorithms used, and our access model.
