Paper Abstract:      As stated in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, it is extremely important to provide clear and consistent navigation mechanisms to increase the likelihood that a person will find what they are looking for at a site. In this paper we propose the use of RSS/RDF to generate a semantic web site description (a site map) enhancing the expressivity of RSS with a specific module containing vocabulary for describing web site both from a categorizing and navigational point of view. This will allow standard (or slightly modified) RSS viewers to be used for “semantic surface navigation” of web sites facilitating the understanding of the site’s structure and making it easy to find information on it for all users and in particular for those with special needs.
