Paper Abstract:

This paper presents an innovative course conceived at the Medizinische Fakultät of the Universität Duisburg-Essen on robotics and computer science. Highly motivated students have participated in this course and, as a first consequence, a research has been initiated in the field of Turing machines applied to optimization of triage systems used for disasters. Additionally, a prototype of a universal Turing machine has been built using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotics system.
