Paper Abstract:      Nowadays, film industry, television, marketing and even architecture projects make a vast use of 3D computer-generated imagery. The process of converting a tridimensional scene into an image is called rendering. There are several different algorithms to obtain photo-realistic images, but all of them share in common the issue of the long period that takes them to generate quality results. The advantage is that this process is highly parallelizable, so usually render algorithms are processed by a cluster of computers working together to render the scene as fast as possible, known in the field as a render farm. As render farms are not affordable hardware for many companies and organizations, remote render farms as services are a potential option for those needs. If such a service is offered, it would be desirable by users and providers that it’s based on standard interfaces to maximize interoperabilty. This document proposes a system for 3D scene rendering using a remote render farm through a RESTful web service.
