Paper Abstract:      Reputation has been considered as a key variable for building successful long-term relationships and is especially relevant in online environments. In this regard, this research aims to analyse the outcomes of this aspect in the field of virtual communities, focusing on open source software (OSS) communities due to their great development in the last years. The data, collected thanks to a web survey using Spanish-speaking members of several OSS virtual communities, showed that reputation exerts a positive and significant effect on both member satisfaction and participation in the community, which are also positively linked. Besides, these two outcomes of reputation boost the member affective commitment to the OSS and, as a consequence, the intention to use OSS products is also increased.
