Paper Abstract:      Email has become embedded in our lives. Although it was designed as a practical text-based medium for communication, people rely heavily on it to express themselves socially. Its remarkably well-preserved 1970s design is now out of step with many ways in which it is used, to the point where it is sometimes more a medium of awkwardness and suffering than a medium of well-being. We reconsider its nature and explore a shift of emphasis from simple communication to social interaction.
