Paper Abstract:
|
Developing well-designed educational gaming interfaces for older adults begins with identifying ergonomic requirements to be considered during the design process to ensure that the games are adapted to their users' characteristics. In a study of seniors aged 55 and older, we created and tested three online educational games, to measure usability in the sense of determining the intuitive capacity of the game (user-friendliness). This paper presents the variables of the study, the way we adapted the three games for seniors, and the results of evaluation of the games by 129 older adults. Our participants reported a high degree of satisfaction with the games' navigation, gameplay aids, and pedagogical features. Based on these results, we present recommendations to guide the design of online educational games for seniors. |
