Paper Abstract:      In this paper, we describe the implementation of an Internet scale Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlay network information index that provides a foundation for querying, message routing and self organization. The index structure we propose is based on an extended interpretation of Extensible Markup Language (XML) and is queried by an extended XPath language. The index can be used to semantically index Web Services, effectively replacing centralized UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) with a P2P discovery architecture. Indexed nodes residing on servers become the articulation points for mapping disparate data sources into the index, via Web Services or REST protocols, to enable efficient queries over unbounded graphs. Nodes may register their services under different semantic paths within the index, thus forming a lattice. The index, named P2PXD, provides distributed XPath query routing features of: selforganization, content addressability, robust scalability, and resiliency over dynamic data. Simulation results are included.
