Paper Abstract:      Many deaf people have difficulties to understand and communicate by texts in spoken languages. In Brazil, for example, about 97% of the deaf people do not finish the high school (IBGE 2000). This difficulty results in a large barrier for deaf people to access information and communication technologies, such as Web, digital television, among others. In this paper, we propose the design of a user interface addressed for Brazilian deaf users. The proposed interface was developed for a collaborative Web system, called WikiLIBRAS and tries to explore and make interaction ease for deaf users. Some tests with Brazilian deaf users and Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) interpreters were also performed to evaluate the feasibility and usability of the proposal.
