Paper Abstract:      Motivation for using SNS (Social Network Service) has important relation with social capital of online users. This study examined how SNS using motivation affects on social capital. Social capital is another form of the neo-capital theories like cultural capital. Many studies have attempted to measure social capital and to quantify its effects. This study measured respondents’ perceived level of motivation for SNS. And some factors were also assessed to define social capital. With the online survey data, we tested the relationship between SNS using motivation and social capital. Motivation of SNS using positively affects on social capital. Among the subordinate variables of social capital (reciprocity, network and trust), two elements of SNS motivation (identity and connection) were positively associated with each SNS using motivation.
