Paper Abstract:      Portuguese Universities have been target of a development of Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) networks, mainly caused by the Electronic University (e-U) national initiative, with the purpose of spreading the Internet access through Universities. University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) is a Portuguese University that agreed to the e-U initiative, giving Internet access to its students, teachers and other employees. Given the great number of users of this network and the traffic volume of data involved, as well as the considerable dimension of UTAD’s Wi-Fi network, it is complex to provide mechanisms to support network administrators with useful information about this network, helping them solving many possible issues. With this paper, we intend to spread a project that consists of monitoring the Wi-Fi network of the University (UTAD), by developing an application where data from the network is acquired and several interfaces adequate to network user profiles are provided.
