Paper Abstract:      A learning support system is proposed, which supports metacognitive skill acquisition. The authors focus on the “problem understanding” process, the initial stage of problem solution. The proposing system provides interactive functions to assist acquisition of metacognitive skills. The system assists a learner to acquire metacognitive skills of self-recognition, think-aloud, deep thinking on given problems, and application skills on similar problems. The proposing system also provides a function to treat graphic information other than text, including scanning coordinate data that a learner draws graphics. To provide interactive functions including graphic data, the system supports a learner intuitive understanding of the problem.
