Paper Abstract:      Many young people today own wireless electronic devices that may act as platform for running proprietary software programs. This applies also to average University students, who nowadays often are equipped with mobile phones of even recent technology generations. Hence, the concept appears feasible of replacing student ID cards – regardless whether these are paper-based or electronic ones with limited intelligence – by these wearable computing devices. With these tools, access can be controlled and granted for many services out of the typically studying environment, especially on University campuses. Here, a global concept and the required technologies are discussed for realizing such a new access ID system. Furthermore, on base of a sample application, security and reliability are considered for such an enhanced student passport system.
