Paper Abstract:      The goal of this study is to investigate the difference between ECG (Electrocardiogram) patterns during sleep in the seated position and in the supine position. ECG during sleep was measured under both the conditions. Lorenz plot was used for ECG analysis. Results showed that there was a difference in the heart rates and heart rate variability in the two conditions. Before the subjects fell asleep, heart rates showed the same value in both the conditions, but after the sleep onset, heart rates in the supine position were higher than the HR (heart rate) values in the seated position. Fluctuation was found out to be large in the supine position. These results could be applied for the detection of sleep onset estimation especially in seated position sleep.
