Paper Abstract:      Following the Bologna Roadmap, the process of politically determined alignment of grades, credits, study structures and quality standards, learning processes in the European Higher Education Area increasingly demand clear pedagogical directives and growing ICT infrastructure and services. Furthermore, flexible, modular and situated learning environments are necessary to support the physical and virtual mobility of students and teachers in order to achieve a better understanding of the cultural and academic diversity of Europe’s universities and societies, which is crucial for a successful European alignment. As a suitable answer to these demands, we present a complex blended learning arrangement, which emphasises international collaboration in the virtual classroom. It has been developed and, based on empirical research, permanently refined in the last years. By enhancing it to a mobile EUROPEAN module, our approach allows students and lecturers in the ERASMUS context to escape the current geographical, financial and time-related “mobility trap” of this framework. This paper summarizes the principles of our blended learning arrangement, whose stepwise development has been documented in several internal publications. We discuss the didactical, organisational and economical issues of successful implementation and sustainable operation of the suggested approach to enable “eBologna“, the achievement of the Bologna goals by the means of eLearning.
