Paper Abstract:      The exploration of huge and uncertain web document pools is a non-trivial task. The use of search engines is difficult if the user has not the knowledge of what the document pool contains. In this paper, we present an interactive method for exploring uncertain document pools. Our method is based on the topological visualization by using self-organizing maps and document clustering, combining advantages of both concepts. The user explores document pools with two different interaction modalities - from the perspective he is interested in and with different granularity of clustering allowing him to choose between having fast insight and precision of the insight into document pool. We present the concept outline of interactive clustering of uncertain document pools and illustrate the generation of a Semantic Map for visual exploration. The application of the approach is shown for the exploration of huge online archives such as found on netzspannung.org.
