Paper Abstract:      This paper presents an ongoing R&D project named ASAP: Agile Sales Platform funded by QREN. This project aims to develop an information systems platform allowing insurance companies to fasten their time to market and provide more adequate offers to their customers. At the same time, the dependency from the company IT department is decreased by empowering business users to actually define most of the sales process for new products in a way that the platform can understand it and present it to the end user, as opposed to the mainstream approach followed by most companies that demand the custom development of sales applications every time a new product is launched. For that, the company needs to reuse its product portfolio as building blocks of new marketable offers. That leads to the need to integrate with different product definition systems (PDS). This work resulted in the definition of an insurance canonical product model to isolate the differences among PDS and a software platform that uses that canonical model to build Marketable Offers and define Sales Processes that are used to create insurance contract quotes. A prototype of the platform is currently being tested and early findings allow us to conclude that it fulfills the intended objectives.
