Paper Abstract:

What will be the influence of information and communication technologies on Universities of the 21st century as well as
on education in a global framework? Is it possible to reduplicate University roles in such a level that everything could be
realized online and make possible virtual universities? In order to answer these questions and foresee this impact and the
future of Universities an overview of education, impact of Information and communication Technologies-ICT and elearning
on Universities and educational models will be reviewed. The purpose is to anticipate and foresee the evolution
path of the Universities of 21st century and the impact of ICT in order to avoid the undesired and possible devaluation of
