Paper Abstract:      The 21st century learner is being provided with a myriad of learning tools based on the Web 2.0. Learners are able to create their own learning environment and their own learning networks that may be outside those provided by the traditional providers such as universities. These new, informal learner-centred networks pose a challenge to the established providers. Universities, colleges and other providers must be able to tap the potential provided by Web 2.0 tools. The question is whether providers of learning are able to integrate with these informal networks to ensure that the learning taking place within these networks is of the appropriate quality.
