Paper Abstract:      In this study, we have improved the Vegetation Interaction Game (Deguchi et al., 2009). Improvements have been made to the expression of competitive interaction between plants and the simulated display of vegetation succession phases on the interface. The evaluation experiment was a within-subject comparison of the existing version and improved version of the game. Surveys on the motivation to learn, understanding of knowledge, and ease of understanding of the interface in the subjects indicate that the improved version of the game (1) improves the subjects’ motivation for learn, (2) gives the same level of assistance to the understanding of knowledge as the existing version, and (3) has a more effective interface that expresses the interaction between plants in an easier-to-understand way than does the existing version.
