Paper Abstract:
|
Programming education have increasingly conducted in many universities and enrichment of its guidance is demanded.
Sufficiently identifying learners' impasses during programming exercises is crucial for providing precise guidance.
However, understanding learners' impasses is difficult under the situation where a small number of instructors manage
many students. Moreover, it is even more challenging to identify impasses that learners themselves may not recognize.
This research focuses on the exploratory traces left by learners during the coding process, which is the footprints of
repeatedly writing a certain part of a program and erasing it. Our goal is to develop methods for estimating impasse
factors based on the analysis of such exploratory traces. Consequently, our methods show a new possibility of support
way for identifying impasses that existing methods have not sufficiently addressed. In this paper, we mainly outline the
estimation of the impasse factors based on the analysis of the exploratory traces using abstract syntax tree. |
