Paper Abstract:      This paper provides a short description on the influence of ICT access and use thereof on individuals in some stages of their lives. The authors conducted exploratory work with a web-based form to know high school students’ access to ICT and use conditions and their possible impact on their skills. The students are part of a higher education preparation program, oriented by Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Secretaría de Educación in Bogotá, Colombia. The Churchill’s methodology is used to build the survey and some responses are analyzed. We discuss some ideas that show that there is a positive impact (at least on a small scale) of ICT use on students. Despite less favorable economic conditions, a high percentage of students have computer and Internet services at home, as this may be regarded as a basic services. Main uses and needs are identified.
