Paper Abstract:      Healthcare professionals are increasingly incorporating to their diary work a heterogeneous set of portable devices that retrieve information about their patients from different Healthcare Information Systems. This situation fulfills the paradigm of ubiquitous computing because there is a need for information anywhere and at anytime. Our aim is to provide applied solutions to healthcare environments within this communication paradigm. Many of the problems that we find are partly motivated to the way that these devices interchange and show information. The goal of the present work is to help to avoid those problems by using multiplatform technologies and a suitable information communication as well as standards representation. The paper also argues about the need of a suitable security environment for these systems in order to protect the confidentiality of the information while, at the same time, allow authorized users to access them conveniently.
