Paper Abstract:
|
Web sites have become increasingly important for tourist destinations for two reasons: first, Destination Management
Organizations (DMOs) can use their Web sites to support their strategies, and secondly, the number of vacation bookings
made online is growing and Internet is now a vital source of information when choosing a destination and organizing the
stay. Both during and after the holiday tourists visit Web sites to exchange information and experiences. These diverse
activities call for a high-quality Web site. To be competitive, tourist destinations must design and maintain a site that
reflects principles of excellence. With this in mind, in this paper we describe a three-step systemic approach to identify a
set of guidelines to (re)design the Web site of a tourist destination. To illustrate the approach, we refer to a project related
to the Regional Tourist Boards in the Alps. |
