Paper Abstract:      Timinganalysisisconcernedwithmodelingandcomputingthedelayofdigitalintegratedcircuits(IC),priortofabrication.ThedelaywilldeterminethemaximumoperatingfrequencyofanIC,anditscomputationisofparamountimportanceinelectronicsystemdesign.AsfeaturesizesdecreaseinICtechnologies,thenumberofcomponentsthatcanbeintegratedonasingleICisverylarge.However,theirprecisebehavior,includingtheirdelay,becomesincreasinglysensitivetofabricationandoperatingvariations.Standarddeterministictechniquesfordelayanalysisarequicklybecominginadequate,becausetheyproduceextremelyconservativeworst-casedelayestimates.Inthiscontext,severalstatisticaltiminganalysisalgorithmshaverecentlybeenproposed,basedonanalyticalmodels.However,neitherofthemisabletocorrectlycaptureandmodelallthecorrelationsandvariationsthatinfluencethedelays.Uptodate,theonlymethodthatcanproduceaccurate,yetapproximate,delayestimates,takingintoaccountfabricationandoperationalvariations,isbasedonMonteCarlosimulation.InthispaperweproposeaMonteCarlo-basedstatisticaltiminganalysisimplementationandstudyitsparallelization,onadistributedinfrastructureforparallelcomputation,basedonthegridcomputingparadigm.SincethisiscurrentlytheonlyaccuratemethodavailabletoperformstatisticaltiminganalysisofICs,andgiventhatmodernICscarrymillionsoflogicblocks,thepossibilityofdealingwithsuchlargedesignsbyusingacheapparallelcomputinginfrastructureisoftremendouspracticalinterest.
