Paper Abstract:      The automatic extraction and recognition of news captions can be of great help when reading a newspaper. This can be done only in which allow the possibility to make semantic analysis of the information. In this case, we are interested in analysis of digital news in order to automatically extract places of the most important newspapers covers and visualize them in a World projection. With our system, the newspapers analysed were the New York Times (USA), Le Monde (France), Morgen (Belgium), ABC (Spain), Il Giornale (Italy), Haberturk (Turkey), Tages Anzeiger (Swiss), Dagens Hyheter (Sweden), Telegraph (United Kingdom), Jornal de Noticias (Portugal), AD (Netherlands), Irish Examiner (Ireland), Gulf News (Arab Emirates), The Times of India (India), Haaretx (Israel), Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), Asahi (Japan), Reforma (Mexico), La Razón (Argentina), El Comercio (Peru), The Times (South African) and The Mercury (South African). To achieve this we have used a Geoparsing Web Service to extract geographic coordinates from the online covers. Geo-positions are drawn and linked with the documents, containing the news. News can be searched according to a concept selected by the user.
