Paper Abstract:      The advent of e-learning invites us not only to adopt new teaching tools, but also to design interesting curricula and to integrate new teaching methods. Yet the quality of teaching and learning depends on the ability of these newly adopted methods to offer some activities and pedagogical paths relevant to the learner’s needs. In this paper, we adopt the Competency–Based-Approach (CBA) as a framework of reference semantically rich to implement a personalized path in a distance learning environment. We think that the individualization of the learner’s paths is the result of a personalized diagnosis achieved through a Formative Assessment (FA). To personalize the learning path, we are going to individualize the diagnosis and pertinently measure the competency gap. Therefore, we suggest the enrichment, implementation and the individualization of the FA in the e-learning environment.
