Paper Abstract:      This paper concentrates on the factors affecting the localisation and internationalisation of web sites, more specifically, a virtual restaurant booking web site, based on the issues relating to the usability of web sites, after an extensive review of relevant primary aspects in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). A large number of participants are required to study customisation of web sites successfully because there are several individual variables, which may have considerable impacts, like personality, cognitive style and disabilities. Thus, customisation is not endeavoured in this paper. Instead, the usability aspects of HCI are addressed to investigate the localisation and internationalisation of web sites. The initial results of a main study phase are discussed.
